Google is asking whether the business impersonates another brand, sells what it cannot deliver, or hides what it actually does. Remove the cause on the site and in the offer first, then file one appeal with proof.<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your Google Ads account or an email shows the line &#171;Unacceptable business practices&#187;, Google believes you are scamming people by hiding or twisting information about the business, products or services. That is not a note about weak ad copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Violations of this section are egregious: they are unlawful or pose significant harm to users, and Google suspends the account as soon as the violation is found, with no prior warning. If the account is already suspended, start with <a href=\"\/blog\/en\/google-ads-account-suspended\/\">what a Google Ads suspension means and what to do<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What it means<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#171;Unacceptable business practices&#187; sits inside the &#171;Misrepresentation&#187; policy. The <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/adspolicy\/answer\/15938071?hl=en\">Google Ads policy page<\/a> lists what that includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>making it seem as if you are affiliated with another brand, organization or government entity when you are not;<\/li>\n<li>offering products or services you do not have or cannot deliver, including without the right licenses or qualifications;<\/li>\n<li>lying about services that could put health or safety at risk, such as pretending to provide medical help when you do not;<\/li>\n<li>impersonating other brands to get money or personal information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google&#8217;s incomplete examples include a &#171;discount store&#187; that never ships paid goods, posing as a well-known charity, and a fake &#171;official site&#187; for a new housing development to collect commission. This section also covers phishing and public figure impersonation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start by checking whether the business itself misleads people. The issue is not only the ad wording: a false brand tie on the site, what you sell, and whether you can deliver it. Rewriting headlines will not fix a problem that stays on the site or in the offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/vis-l2-en.png\" alt=\"Appeal preparation steps: read the notice, check the site and brand claims, complete verification, submit one appeal, and wait for the outcome.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is at stake<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google may review the ad, the website, accounts and third-party sources. Unlike repeated ordinary violations, there is no warning at least 7 days ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appeal through the form in the account. While it is in review, the status is &#171;Appeal pending&#187;. The outcome arrives by email. File one appeal at a time: abuse can pause processing for 7 days. Some advertisers must complete advertiser verification first. After 3 failed advertiser verification attempts, the appeal is unavailable. Google describes the path in its <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/adspolicy\/answer\/2375414?hl=en\">account suspensions overview<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read the notice at the top of the account. Confirm the account itself is suspended and the line is &#171;Unacceptable business practices&#187;, not a single disapproved ad.<\/li>\n<li>Check the company description and the offer on the site. Do not hide what the business does or promise products or services you cannot deliver, including without the required licenses and qualifications.<\/li>\n<li>Check how you describe any link to other brands or organizations. Remove false partnership claims and any wording that creates a false impression that you represent another brand.<\/li>\n<li>If Google asks for advertiser verification, complete it before you file an appeal. After 3 failed advertiser verification attempts you cannot appeal.<\/li>\n<li>Submit one appeal. In the notice, select &#171;Contact Us&#187;. The form opens on the right. Be thorough, accurate and honest. If you are a genuine partner, explain the relationship and attach proof.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the email with the outcome. Selecting &#171;Contact Us&#187; again during review shows &#171;Appeal pending&#187;. If the appeal is rejected, you can file again the same way. Check first that the cause of the violation is gone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What not to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not send parallel appeals while the previous one is still in review. Abuse can pause processing for 7 days.<\/li>\n<li>Do not open a new account in a friend&#8217;s name while this one is suspended. In my practice this is one of the reasons accounts get a <a href=\"\/blog\/en\/google-ads-circumventing-systems\/\">&#171;Circumventing systems&#187;<\/a> suspension.<\/li>\n<li>Do not apologize instead of removing the cause. A false partnership, a service you are not qualified to provide, or a product you do not ship remains a violation.<\/li>\n<li>Do not stop at rewriting the ads if the landing page still contains misleading information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When this does not apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These steps are not for an ad disapproved under another part of &#171;Misrepresentation&#187;, such as clickbait, unclear relevance or a misleading ad design. That path needs edits and a new review, described in the <a href=\"\/blog\/en\/misrepresentation-policy-google-ads\/\">&#171;Misrepresentation&#187; policy<\/a>. Do not mix this section with &#171;Circumventing systems&#187;. If Google sent a warning at least 7 days ahead, that is the ordinary repeat-violation path, not this egregious section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the site is already fixed, the proof is gathered, one appeal is in, and the status still does not change, we can review the account together.<\/p>\n\n\n<!-- cta-anchor -->\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions and answers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is changing the ad text enough?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No. Google may look at the site, accounts and third-party sources. A new headline does not remove the violation if the landing page still contains misleading information. Fix the practice and the site first, then appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How many times can I appeal?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">File one appeal at a time. If it is rejected, you can file again the same way after checking that the cause of the violation is gone. Abuse can pause processing for 7 days. After 3 failed advertiser verification attempts the appeal is unavailable. Those attempts apply to verification, not to the number of appeals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is this the same as &#171;Misrepresentation&#187;?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#171;Unacceptable business practices&#187; is one of two sections of that policy whose violations are egregious and suspend the account without warning. Violations of the other eight sections lead to an ad disapproval you can fix and resubmit. Repeated ordinary violations can also lead to a suspension, but with a warning.
