In short:<\/strong> Your site can open in your browser while Google AdsBot hits an error, a redirect, or a block from another country. Fix the page with whoever runs the site, save the ad, and wait for the automatic re-review. Appeal only after that: each ad has 3 appeals, and you must wait at least 24 hours between appeals on the same ads.<\/div>\n\n\n

«Destination not working» in the Status column means the ad is disapproved under destination rules: the landing page does not function, is set up incorrectly, or returns an HTTP error to Google AdsBot worldwide. You see it on the Ads table when you hover over Disapproved, not on the keywords table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until that reason is gone, this ad cannot serve. If the whole campaign is dark, start with why a Google Ads ad is not showing<\/a>, then come back to this disapproval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What it means<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a landing page check, not an ad copy score and not your bid. Open Campaigns, then Ads, hover over Disapproved in the Status column: that is where «Destination not working» appears. Google Ads destination requirements<\/a> say the destination must work on common browsers and devices. The ad is disapproved if the page fails, was set up incorrectly, or AdsBot gets an HTTP error worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not «the site is down». In my practice the owner opens the URL on a phone, sees a lead form, and decides Google got it wrong. More often the cause is a redirect, a crawler block, a login wall, or a page that does not open from certain countries or devices. Check the expanded URL in the interface, including any tracking template.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not confuse this with «Destination mismatch». There the display URL domain does not match the final URL, a redirect from the final URL goes to another domain, or the tracking template does not lead to the same content. The page can still load. «Destination not working» means the bot or the user does not get a working page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is at stake<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A disapproved ad gets no impressions and no leads. If it is the only ad in the group, that ad group stays silent until the page is fixed and review runs again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An appeal without a working page will not change the status and burns a slot. Each ad has 3 appeals. Wait at least 24 hours between appeals on the same ads, or they are marked as duplicates. If disapprovals pile up, read why a Google Ads account gets suspended<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open change history for the past week.<\/strong> In my practice this label often appears after someone else’s edits: a contractor swapped the landing page or turned on a redirect, and the owner finds out from a Google email.<\/li>\n
  2. Read the reason in the account.<\/strong> Campaigns, then Ads, hover over Disapproved in Status. Open the expanded URL from the interface, not the address you remember.<\/li>\n
  3. Check the page the way someone else would see it.<\/strong> Open it on a phone and from another network. Ask whoever runs the site to confirm AdsBot can reach it worldwide without an HTTP error, a login wall, or a «site under construction» message.<\/li>\n
  4. Fix the page, the URL, or the redirect, then save the ad.<\/strong> Saving triggers an automatic re-review. Google Ads Help on fixing a disapproved ad<\/a> uses the same order: fix the asset, the ad, or the destination, then save.<\/li>\n
  5. Appeal only after that.<\/strong> If the content complies, the technical issue is gone, and the status is still Disapproved, file one appeal. Wait at least 24 hours between appeals on the same ads.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    What not to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Do not appeal before the page is fixed. The review will see the same error, and one of three appeals is gone.<\/li>\n
    • Do not create a new ad to «clear» the disapproval. The new ad goes to the same URL, and the old one stays disapproved.<\/li>\n
    • Do not show Google’s crawler one page and the person who clicks another. That is a separate policy violation, not a way through review.<\/li>\n
    • Do not appeal the same ads more than once in 24 hours, and do not spend all 3 appeals «just in case».<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      When this does not apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      These steps do not fix a slow site that still loads: slowness and painful navigation sit under destination experience, not unavailability. Do not mix this with «Destination mismatch», where the page is alive but the domain or final URL is wrong. Separate labels are «Destination not accessible» (not available in the targeted location) and «Destination not crawlable» (often an exclusion file). The row is not a keyword status and not Ad Strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If the status still has not moved after you fix the page, save the ad, and file one appeal, we can go through the account together: change history, the expanded URL, and what the crawler sees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

      Questions and answers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The site opens for me. Why is the ad disapproved?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Your browser and Google AdsBot are different visitors. The page can load in your country on your device and still return an HTTP error to the bot, break on a redirect, or fail from another geography. Check the expanded URL and AdsBot logs, not only a local visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How is this different from «Destination mismatch»?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      «Destination mismatch» applies when the display URL domain does not match the final URL, a redirect from the final URL goes to another domain, or the tracking template does not lead to the same content. «Destination not working» is a page that does not function, or a bot that gets an error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      When should I appeal?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      After the page, URL, or redirect is already fixed and the ad is saved. If the content complies and the technical cause is gone, file one appeal.
