In short:<\/strong> if Google Ads paused or suspended your account over an unpaid balance, first find out what it is asking for: overdue invoices paid, a payment made, or a payment method verified. An account admin does the payment and the verification. If the account is not restored 48 hours after Google receives your payment, email the Google collections team.<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When Google Ads stops an account over money you owe, Google’s Help center calls the reason «Unpaid balance or concerns about future payments». You will see it in the email to the account admin and in the alert inside the account. On monthly invoicing it also shows in «Invoices overview», in the «Invoice status» column, under the «Overdue» category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What it means<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the Google Ads Help page<\/a>, an account can be paused or suspended for several reasons: unpaid monthly invoices, verification issues, or policy violations. To get ads running again you must fix the specific reason. If it is unpaid invoices, pay them right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two states. A temporary pause: the account is not suspended, the admin gets an email and an alert, and Google asks you to confirm your payment method, make a small payment or pay the balance. A suspension: no ads can run and the account is read-only, but you can still pay, add a payment method and appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why it happens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An unpaid balance is not the only reason in this group. The Billing and payment suspensions page<\/a> lists several.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On audits an account usually stops because a card quietly stopped working and nobody read Google’s email. Keep two admins and an inbox someone reads, since only an admin can complete the payment task. Suspicious payments have their own guide: suspicious payment activity in Google Ads<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Read the email and the alert first to see what Google wants. On monthly invoicing, then check the balance. In your paying manager account open «Invoices overview», find unpaid invoices in the «Invoice status» column and select View next to «Overdue».<\/li>\n
  2. Pay. Select Get started in the alert, or go to Admin, Policy, Account, the task «Pay with your payment method», Start task, then Pay now. Use Change to pick a different card.<\/li>\n
  3. If the account asks you to verify the payment method, do the task «Confirm your payment method»: Start task, Verify, Get code. Google makes a temporary small charge, no more than $1.95 USD according to the Help page, and the last 6 digits of that charge are your code. Enter it, select Submit code, then Done.<\/li>\n
  4. Wait for the email confirming the account is unpaused. A bank transfer takes longer than a card, so the account can stay paused until the money arrives.<\/li>\n
  5. If you paid every overdue invoice and the account is still not reactivated 48 hours after Google received the payment, email collections@google.com. Include your payments profile ID, your Google Ads account ID, the invoice numbers and amounts, and proof of payment. The average reply takes 2 business days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    For a wire transfer, proof means a bank confirmation with the payee details, payer’s name, actual payment date (future dates are not accepted), amount, transaction code and an «executed» status. If your card is declined, change the payment method or add a new one: even a suspended account can do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What not to do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Open a new account instead of paying the balance. Google suspends accounts that share the same email, payment method or manager account, and any new account the advertiser creates.<\/li>\n
    • File appeal after appeal. Google asks for one at a time and only after you have made changes; if it sees misuse, it can stop processing some appeals for 7 days.<\/li>\n
    • Ask your bank to reverse a charge for real ad spend. That is a separate reason for suspension.<\/li>\n
    • Send proof of payment with a future date or without an «executed» status. Google does not accept such proof.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      When this does not apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • The suspension has another cause. Accounts are also suspended for policy violations, and then paying will not restore it: you need an appeal after fixing the problem.<\/li>\n
      • You are not on monthly invoicing. The billing support form and the collections address are for that setup; on postpay or prepay the Help page gives a different support form.<\/li>\n
      • You are not an account admin. Only an admin can complete the tasks in the account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Can I log in to a suspended account?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Yes, but it is read-only. You can pay, download tax documents, add a payment method, appeal and download reports. You cannot run ads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        How long until the account is back after I pay?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        The Help page gives no restoration time. The one marker: if the account is not reactivated 48 hours after Google receives the payment, contact the collections team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        What happens if I do not pay?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
