Google Partners is a free program for advertisers and agencies that manage Google Ads accounts. The status shows that a business meets Google’s formal requirements, while the badge gives prospective clients a quick way to verify that standing.
How to become a Google Partner
Both individual advertisers and agencies can join the Google Partners program. Register on the Google Partners website, sign in, select the option to become a partner, and confirm that you accept the program rules.
Next, complete the company details in your Google Ads manager account. Google asks for information such as the company name, physical address, and number of employees.
Requirements for Google Partner status
Google evaluates three main areas:
- Performance.
- Spend.
- Staff certifications.

Performance
Google requires an average Optimization Score of at least 70% across the accounts you manage. Google presents this as evidence that you use client advertising budgets effectively.
Google also recommends actions that can raise the score, but you do not have to accept every recommendation. An advertiser who follows sound campaign principles and produces strong click-through rates, conversions, and return on investment should be able to reach the required level.
Spend
Total Google Ads spend across managed accounts must reach at least $10,000 over 90 days. Higher combined campaign budgets improve the chance of reaching the top 3% of Google Partners and receiving Google Premier Partner status.
Google assesses each country separately. Premier Partner status can therefore be easier to obtain in Ukraine and Eastern Europe than in the United States or the United Kingdom. In Ukraine, around $5 million in client ad spend over 90 days was the level required at the time of writing.
Google also considers whether the business can:
- retain existing clients;
- win new clients;
- increase total Google Ads budgets;
- develop several Google Ads channels, not only Search;
- take an active part in Google events.
Staff certifications
Previously, one certified employee was enough. At least half of the specialists with administrator access to the Google Ads manager account must now complete Skillshop training and earn Google certifications.
This requirement also applies to companies with no more than 100 employees. If you provide services across several Google Ads areas, you need relevant certifications for Search, Shopping, Video, App, and Display campaigns. Those certifications must be renewed periodically.
Once you have checked performance, spend, and certification coverage together, you can see whether the badge reflects a repeatable operating standard rather than a single exam result.
Benefits of Google Partner status
A person or company that meets the criteria receives a Google Partner badge. Displaying it on a website or in advertising can increase trust because visitors can immediately see that Google recognises the provider’s status.
How I assess Google Partner status
I do not treat the badge as proof of expertise on its own. I check whether it is supported by client spend, certifications, and continued compliance with the program. For me, it is a working filter, not a decorative credential.
According to the official Google Partners requirements, status depends on performance, spend, and certification.
A static badge shows the company name and area of specialisation. Websites can also use a dynamic version that reveals company information when a visitor points to the three-dot control.
Partner status can provide several additional benefits:
- Google courses in marketing, online advertising, and analytics;
- partner seminars, conferences, and webinars;
- additional reports and trend data for advertising sectors;
- bonuses for completing selected tasks, which may be used for advertising;
- a listing in the Google Partners directory;
- direct Google support, faster answers, and individual account recommendations;
- access to beta versions of new advertising tools before the wider market.
These resources can help a provider improve account management and keep learning. However, the program has rules that partners must follow to retain their status.
- Do not infringe copyright.
- Do not include the Google Partners badge in your own logo.
- Do not use it on sites with a questionable reputation, including sites connected with alcohol, gambling, tobacco, or adult products.
- Do not sell the account or transfer control to someone who is not a Google Partner.
What Google Partner status tells you
Becoming a Google Partner is achievable for a provider with sufficient managed spend, certified staff, and accounts that meet Google’s performance requirement. The program can add training, bonuses, and stronger technical support.
For a prospective client, the status is useful evidence that a provider has passed Google’s formal checks. It is not a substitute for reviewing case studies, experience in your market, and the commercial results achieved in comparable accounts.
