Google Ads Campaign Types

This section helps you choose a Google Ads campaign type by the job it must perform, not by whichever option the interface promotes most prominently. I cover Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Demand Gen, Display, YouTube, Smart campaigns, Maps advertising and Google Ad Grants, with practical explanations of where each format appears and what inputs it needs. The choice matters technically because campaign types use different inventory, targeting signals, creative assets and levels of automation. Putting the same offer into a different format can change both the intent you reach and how much visibility you retain over delivery. I share how I compare these trade-offs in real advertising work, including the questions I ask about demand, product data, video, location, audience readiness and measurement before recommending a format. My aim is to make the system understandable before you commit budget or hand control to automation. After reading, you will be able to shortlist suitable formats, prepare the required assets and explain why a campaign belongs in the account.
